Welcome

Permit Types:

  • Special Event Permit
  • Parks & Community Services Film/Photo Permit

What requires a Special Event Permit?

There are many unique events held in Bellevue each year. When does it become a requirement that an event receive a Special Event Permit? If either of the following two statements apply to an event you are planning, you need to submit an application and have your event reviewed by the Special Events Committee.

The event is held on public streets, sidewalks, walkways, or on other publicly owned property, and is over 500 people in attendance per day, or interferes with normal vehicular or pedestrian traffic and/or requires the use of City services OR the event is on private property and cannot be self-contained (i.e. parking spills over onto public property) and/or requires the use of City services.

How to Apply

The Application of Intent is the first step of the application process. The Application of Intent must be submitted no less than 90 days prior to the event date. Once submitted, an Event Sponsor must pay the $62.00 non-refundable application fee. Typical approval of date, time, and location will be received after Committee review, which can take up to 30 days.

Before applying, please review the Special Events Planning Guide. If you have questions about the process or need assistance, our professional staff will be happy to assist. Contact the Special Events Committee at SEC@bellevuewa.gov

What requires a Parks Film/Photo Permit?

Commercial or professional filming or still photography that takes place within a City of Bellevue park, trail, or open space requires a permit issued by the Parks & Community Services Department. We strongly advise you to reach out to the Parks Department as soon as possible to ensure that your requested filming location(s) are available.
